2. Procurement and orders
2.1 Pricing
-
Currency: All prices are quoted in Pounds Sterling (£).
-
VAT: Unless otherwise stated, prices are exclusive of VAT. A full invoice including VAT will be provided with every order.
-
Price Adjustments: We reserve the right to adjust pricing at any time. However, the price confirmed at the time of your order will be the price charged.
2.2 Payment Methods
We offer two primary methods of payment:
-
Direct Online Payment: Via credit/debit card or secure digital payment at the time of checkout.
-
Purchase Orders (Schools & Colleges only): We accept official Purchase Orders from UK educational institutions. When checking out, please select the "Purchase Order" option and provide your official PO number.
2.3 Payment Terms for Institutions
For orders placed via an official Purchase Order:
-
Credit Terms: Payment is due strictly within 30 days of the invoice date.
-
Late Payments: We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at a rate of 2% per month above the Bank of England base rate, suspend further deliveries and cancel outstanding orders.
-
New Accounts: For first-time orders over a certain value, we may require a deposit or upfront payment before the goods are dispatched.
2.4 Retention of Title
Ownership of the Goods shall not pass to the Buyer until the Seller has received payment in full. Until such time, the Buyer must store the Goods in a manner that makes them identifiable as our property.
3. Delivery and Carriage
3.1 Delivery Estimates
-
Dispatch Time: We aim to dispatch in-stock items within 3–5 working days. For bespoke equipment or large-scale lab orders, we will provide an estimated lead time at the point of order.
-
Delivery Dates: Any dates quoted for delivery are approximate only. The Seller is not liable for any delay in delivery caused by a Force Majeure event or the Buyer’s failure to provide adequate delivery instructions.
3.2 Shipping Charges
-
Standard Delivery: Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the weight and dimensions of the Goods.
-
Institutional Orders: For large orders placed via Purchase Order, shipping will be quoted as a separate line item on your invoice.
3.3 Receipt of Goods
-
School Deliveries: It is the Buyer’s responsibility to ensure that the delivery address is staffed during standard school hours (08:00–16:00, Monday to Friday).
-
Holiday Periods: Please notify us if an order is placed shortly before a school holiday. We cannot be held responsible for failed deliveries made to closed premises during half-terms or summer breaks.
-
Inspection: Upon delivery, the Buyer must inspect the Goods. Any damage in transit or shortfalls must be reported to us in writing within 3 working days.
3.4 Risk of Loss
While the Seller retains title (ownership) until payment, the risk (responsibility for damage) passes to the Buyer the moment the Goods are signed for at the delivery address.
4. Warranties, Returns, and Refunds
4.1 Warranty and Robustness Guarantee
-
Standard Warranty: We take pride in the durability of our equipment. All Goods are supplied with a 12-month warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery.
-
Exclusions: This warranty does not cover damage resulting from fair wear and tear in the classroom, intentional misuse, accidental damage, or failure to follow provided instructions or safety protocols (e.g., exceeding voltage limits).
4.2 Statutory Right to Cancel (Consumer/Individual Buyers)
-
If you are purchasing as an individual (rather than on behalf of an institution), you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the Goods under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.
-
To receive a full refund, Goods must be returned in their original, unused condition and in the original packaging. The Buyer is responsible for the cost of return postage.
4.3 Institutional Returns (Schools & Colleges)
-
Change of Mind: For institutional orders, returns for non-faulty goods are at the discretion of the Seller and in some cases may be subject to a 15% restocking fee. In either case, the buyer is responsible for the cost and risk of shipping non-faulty goods back to us.
-
Bespoke Items: Any equipment manufactured or modified to a school’s specific requirements is non-returnable unless faulty.
4.4 Faulty or Damaged Goods
-
If a product arrives damaged or develops a fault within the warranty period, please contact us immediately with your order number and photographic evidence of the fault.
-
Resolution: At our discretion, we will either:
-
Repair the item;
-
Provide a replacement; or
-
Issue a full refund for the cost of the item.
-
Collection: We will cover the shipping costs for the return of faulty items.
4.5 Refund Processing
-
Refunds will be processed within 14 days of us receiving and inspecting the returned Goods.
-
Refunds will be issued via the original payment method. For schools that paid via invoice, a credit note will be issued, or a bank transfer arranged.
5. Product Specifications and Accuracy
5.1 Technical Accuracy
-
Educational Context: All Goods are designed and manufactured for educational demonstration and laboratory use. While we strive for high precision, stated technical specifications and tolerances are indicative and intended for educational purposes only.
-
Calibration: It is the responsibility of the Buyer to ensure that equipment is appropriately calibrated according to their specific curriculum requirements before use.
-
Variations: The Seller reserves the right to make minor modifications to product design or materials that do not materially affect the performance or safety of the Goods.
5.2 Safety and Compliance
-
Standards: Our equipment is designed to be robust and safe for classroom use. However, the Buyer must ensure that all use of the Goods is supervised by a qualified person and complies with local health and safety regulations (such as CLEAPSS or SSERC guidelines). Ultimately, it is the buyers responsibility to ensure appropriate risk assessments are carried out.
-
Liability: We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from the use of equipment outside of its intended educational purpose or beyond its stated technical limits.
6. Limitation of liability
6.1 Limitation of liability
-
Nothing in the Contract shall limit or exclude the Seller’s liability for:
-
death or personal injury caused by its negligence, or the negligence of its employees, agents, or subcontractors.
-
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
-
any matter in respect of which it would be unlawful for the Seller to exclude or restrict liability.
-
Subject to clause 6.1:
-
The Seller shall under no circumstances be liable to the Buyer, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, for any loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, data loss, disruption to educational timetables or school operations, or any indirect or consequential loss arising under or in connection with the Contract; and
-
The Seller’s total liability to the Buyer in respect of all other losses arising under or in connection with the Contract, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, shall in no circumstances exceed 100% of the total price paid by the Buyer for the specific Goods giving rise to the claim.
7. Intellectual Property (IP)
7.1 Ownership of Designs
-
All intellectual property rights in the Goods, including but not limited to designs, technical drawings, prototypes, and unique manufacturing processes, are and shall remain the exclusive property of Precision Practical Limited.
-
The purchase of Goods does not grant the Buyer any license to reproduce, copy, or reverse-engineer the designs for commercial or secondary use.
7.2 Documentation and Resources
-
All instructional materials, digital resources, and teaching aids provided by the Seller are protected by copyright. These materials are licensed to the purchasing institution for internal educational use only and may not be redistributed, sold, or uploaded to public-facing websites without written permission.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
